Dr. E. Greer Richardson, Dedicated Surgeon and Teacher, Retires

Dr. E. Greer Richardson has retired after 33 years on the Campbell Clinic staff as a specialist in foot and ankle surgery. He has treated thousands of patients through the years, restoring them to their daily activities, with compassionate care and a big smile.
One of his patients said, “Dr. Richardson is not only a wonderful surgeon, but one of the finest men I have ever met. I just had complete confidence in him.”
In addition to providing exceptional care for his patients, Dr. Richardson was dedicated to teaching residents and fellows in Campbell’s education program, mentoring the next generation of outstanding orthopaedic surgeons. He is founder of the Foot and Ankle Fellowship program at Campbell Clinic and served as Fellowship Director for more than 25 years.
Each year, the graduating residents present a special teaching award to a staff physician. Because of their great respect and admiration for Dr. Richardson, the residents honored him more than once with the Aesculapian Teaching Award.
Dr. Richardson was a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and served in leadership positions, including President in 2002. He contributed chapters to orthopaedic textbooks, published numerous journal articles, and was Editor-in- Chief of Foot and Ankle International.
Dr. Richardson was often a visiting professor and lecturer at both national and international orthopaedic meetings. He was a member of The Campbell Foundation Board of Trustees, providing leadership and support for education and research programs.
Dr. Richardson’s compassion and skills extended beyond Campbell Clinic to the mission field, both in Memphis with the Soles4Souls program that provides foot exams and treatment for homeless individuals, as well as across the globe with trips to Vietnam and Nigeria.
