Canale Presidential Research Fund

The Canale Research Fund was established in 2015 by Drs. S. Terry Canale, James H. Beaty and Frederick M. Azar, using the honoraria earned for their respective terms as President of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. This fund provides financial support for orthopaedic research. The Campbell Clinic physicians lead innovative clinical research studies, including prospective randomized clinical trials, multicenter studies and retrospective studies across all orthopaedic sub-specialties, with partners worldwide and engaging UTHSC-Campbell Clinic residents and fellows and medical students.

Lee Milford, M.D. Hand & Upper Extremity Research and Education

The Milford Hand Education Fund was established in 2015 by Dr. Jim Calandruccio, in memory of Dr. Lee Milford, founder of the Campbell Clinic Foundation Hand Fellowship. This fund enables current Residents and Hand Fellows to expand their knowledge and technique through various educational activities, research projects, cadaveric labs and course/ meeting experiences, ultimately strengthening the care they provide to patients.

James W. Harkess, M.D. Total Joint Education Fund

The Harkess Total Joint Fund was established in 2021 with support from staff, alumni and friends to honor Campbell Clinic physician Dr. James W. Harkess and his impact on colleagues, education and the practice of healthcare. The Harkess Fund supports an annual Visiting Professor lecture and adult reconstruction training. As resources grow, the program will expand to support research and an adult reconstruction fellowship to ultimately benefit patient mobility, well-being and independence.

James H. Beaty, M.D. Pediatric Orthopaedic Visiting Professor Fund

Established in 2018, the Beaty Pediatric Orthopaedic Visiting Professor Fund honors the lifetime contributions of Dr. James H. Beaty, Chairman of the UTHSC-Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Biomedical Engineering, former Chief of Staff of Campbell Clinic, and Past President of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). Each year, this fund affords a lecture and grand rounds with a prominent Visiting Professor (such as the President of POSNA) in Memphis.

Kay C. Daugherty Memorial Fund

Kay Daugherty served the Campbell Clinic and Foundation for more than 43 years and had a profound impact on countless orthopaedic surgeons and partners around the world. Kay faithfully and tirelessly edited, reshaped, and oversaw all aspects of publications. In 2022, the Kay Daugherty Memorial Fund was established to honor Kay’s life and contributions as a mentor, colleague and friend, and to support orthopaedic education through the Kay C. Daugherty Center for Orthopaedic Education (opening in 2024).

Campbell Clinic Foundation Diamond Society

Campbell Clinic Foundation’s Diamond Anniversary Fund was established to celebrate the Foundation’s 75th anniversary and to engage resident and fellowship alumni in the long-term growth of orthopaedic surgery training and clinical research. These gifts afford unique training opportunities as well as unlock new orthopaedic discoveries through research. Partnerships with accomplished alumni are at the heart of the programs’ growth and continued excellence. All contributions are welcome, with many alumni choosing to pledge $7,500 to honor the milestone.
